The Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development held its Annual Christmas and End of Year Dinner on December 19th at the Hyatt Regency. It was a night full of music, food, fun and appreciation as retirees of 2011 were recognized while the melodious rhythms of Los Alumnos de San Juan filled the Port of Spain Ballroom.
The United Nations has proclaimed 2012 the International Year of Co-operatives (IYC) under that theme "Co-operative Enterprises Build a Better World".
Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development, a national committee comprising of stakeholders in the Co-operative Movement in Trinidad and Tobago has established to develop (as appropriate) a plan of action containing activities and initiatives. The Ministry officially launched IYC 2012 on November 21st 2011 at the Hyatt Regency.
International Year of Co-operatives 2012(IYC 2012)
The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives.With the theme of “Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World”, the Year seeks to encourage the growth and establishment of cooperatives all over the world. The Co-operative Development Division will be embarking on a list of activities in recognition of co-operatives as part of IYC 2012. These events will start with the launch of IYC in November 2011 and continue on into 2012.
